Templates are reusable across multiple runs of the process and carry forward into subsequent years, so you're not starting from scratch each cycle. Pull-down menus make field assignment straightforward, even for staff new to the submittal process.

Monitor progress with built-in workflow indicators
A step-by-step workflow walks your team through the entire submittal process. As each stage completes successfully, its indicator updates to confirm completion — giving coordinators a clear, at-a-glance view of where the process stands and what actions remain before the submission deadline.

Validate data and resolve issues before submittal
Data is checked against established FHWA HPMS validation rules as well as state DOT-specific checks. Issues can be corrected directly within HPMS Assistant or traced back to the originating source systems. The result is a clean, audit-ready dataset with a full record of the corrections made during the process.

Generate reports and final submittal files
When validation is complete, HPMS Assistant produces the certified mileage reports, network geodatabases, and the April and June FHWA-compliant submittal files — all from a single interface. Related summary files can be generated using current or prior-year data, ready to be shared with FHWA on schedule.
